An emotionally tearing novel. Not as morbid as some expect .... the title is probably as bad as one could be chosen if book sales are wanted.
A book which covers issues like alcoholism, father-son relationship, wife-husband, segregation, religious bigotry ... It even includes comedy.
Warning: reading the introduction or the blurb will spoil the "who died" tension, but that's a minor point.
Agee has a tendency to over-egg the point. ... but I'll forgive a great writer for doing that. For me, its like being given a huge box of chocs .... the more the merrier, thanks.
