Aside from the fragmented writing and the unnecessary vulgarity, this author comes across as having some deep personal issues. The slanderous way he depicts the Dominican culture and its people is extremely offensive.
Stereotyping all Dominican mothers as uncaring and selfish is irresponsible. There are so many deflationary statements in this book presented as facts it is shameful. Example: page 65, "We Dominicans, we lose a daughter and might not even cancel our appointment at the salon." More Stereotyping, describing all Dominican men like the narrator, nauseatingly sick when it comes ro sex and relationships. Even more nonsense, apparently Dominicans don't get along with Puerto Ricans.
Lastly, the author tries to present the "fuku" as an integral part of the Dominican culture shows an effort to exaggerate or simply a lack of knowledge on the topic. If I could, I would give it zero stars. This book is basura.
