I vowed after seeing Schindler List I wouldn’t watch another similar . Yet I read the tattooist of Auschwitz I find when a book is adapt to a film/ series it’s never done the book justice. Taken my time really to decide to overcome and watch it . From the start you knew the cast was chosen correctly and all the adaptations that made this . It’ was story of love , war and eventually peace . Where falling in love still can happen in the most harrowing places . The chaos . That what strikes me the most . The selection , the queuing, the discipline . Shouting . Always shouting , screams , the fear , lack of identity torn , no dignity - stripped from the prisoners . Under the camp so many nationalities , so many different religions - yet all shared the same motivate to survive. Oh and the children . Not many .Some too little to know what was going on . Thank someone above for that . Dr Mengele .His name goes through me even writing it . Those experiments . Why oh why . Poor , poor Leon , his sexuality - got him to one of Mengele targets . And what he did to women - barbaric.Unity . Of the women was incredible , how they protected each other, especially with Esther and the baby . Torture. That never seems to end even when the soldiers knew they were losing the war . Sexual Abuse . Even that continued when Lali escaped . Peace . Did Lali and Gita ever found peace ? Even years living after the war both struggled with the past to be really happy . I believed they both did when there son Gary was born . An incredible production of the memoir of Lali and the Holocaust.
