I feel like many reviews both here and elsewhere are cancelling this game because the story forced you to feel one way, but ends up not delivering for a very specific reason.
The gameplay, mechanics and adversaries are all identical to the last game with a few minor additions, so nothing to worry about if you feel the game is drastically different.
Like with the first game, this game tells a very, specific story which has uniquely controversial undertones. The first game had strong narratives revolving around loss and how people overcome loss, and the lengths people will go to prevent future loss. The game has a very different theme, but one which has an astounding narrative to accompany.
The game is by far longer than the first and has significantly more combat light areas, and many more opportunities for semi-openworld exploration.
If you love the first game, this game is a spectacular sequel full of love, heartache and anger. I cannot praise the writing and creation of this game more. Don't be offended or angered if the game's story ends differently to how you expect, every thread has been designed to arrive at a specific conclusion. Hope you all enjoy it! Looking forward to a potential third and final installment.
