Fascinating detailed account of railway development around the world.
A serious shortcoming is the lack of detailed maps to illustrate his text. Continent maps at the start of the book are helpful, but much more detailed maps are needed throughout the book, to maintain a sense of place and scale.
The absence of such maps is a false economy.
