I watched this movie in the cinema and found as such a thriller. Definitely recommend to watch while it’s still on the big screens for that extra immersion.
As someone who plays competitive volleyball, I found the choreography and animation to be extremely immersive and it was breathtaking. I felt like I was watching the match in real time and it kept me on the edge of my seat. It stars off feeling rushed but settles into a steady rhythm. I found the fast pace was a nice change from the continuous internal monologue interrupted rally’s from the anime and this helped with the immersion.
Watching it in dub in cinema when I was used to the sub made it very entertaining to hear each new voice actor. Though it could be too jarring for some.
Though I haven’t read this far in the manga, so there’s no way to know or be disappointed about how much they cut out, but as its own movie that stars off where season 4 ended, it was an amazing experience.
I do recommend recapping on the end of season 4 before watching if it’s been a while.
Really looking forward to seeing what they do with the next movie to finish of this series.
