Jolie's role is absolutely astonishing, mesmerizing, and captivating and is the absolute embodiment of Art! I am quite an opera fan, so I truly appreciate this film which is overdue! Callas was extraordinarily complex and her private struggle, when the public and life has alienated a powerful artist such as Callas when her vocal talent began to diminish, which must have been excruciatingly painful for her and signifying ultimate rejection, a common feeling she clearly experienced her throughout her entire extraordinary life. She had no one to turn to, to save her and she herself was too ill to do.
Callas experienced much acclaim during her brief stay, but it wasn't without suffering huge scandal and pressure -not to mention she was being judged (and misjudged) by people who didn't even know her. How painful. Jolie is tremendous, the perfect actress to fully capture such frailty. I cried throughout the movie and was overcome with empathy.
Great job, AJ ๐
