I was completely engrossed from the start. Such a sad story but told in such a way, that the love between the characters tempered the sadness and made it easy to read. Perkins Valdez is an amazing writer whose descriptions are vivid but not tedious and prolonged as so many writers’ are. This story taught me about the unspeakable injustices perpetrated on poor black women in the not so distant past. I highly recommend this book.

The acting is phenomenal, especially that of Sigourney Weaver but many of the other characters as well. Set on a flower farm, the scenery is beautiful to look at. Many twists and turns. I can’t quit watching! Highly recommend!

I’m loving the subtle humor and the quirky characters. Reminds me of The Office. Fisk’s unpretentious nature cracks me up.
