Top tier Cdrama, watch many historical chinese drama but this one bids the highest for me. The cinematography, the location, events and plots, from detailed costumes to intricate design of each places/palace/manor they shoot. The actor, from servants to the main leads A'wu and Xiao Qi. They really both give justice to their roles. Actually I just watch a one small clip in IG about these, the chemistry of these two is terrific. I was very interested since these actors aren't familiar to me compare to the very popular chinese actors nowadays. One clip, and I watched 68 episodes without hesitation. Longest episode I watch so far from kdrama to Turkish drama, this one is worth it. Since two main leads are very well paired together I expected that they have many romantically exposure but mannn, these drama has many issues, from betrayed, political greed and power, to injustice. But tho the main lead has mediocre interactions, the chemistry they have is UNBEATABLE! Your standard for love well really raise here. Xiao Qi is so so greenflag (greener that hulan grassland) and a badass smart man. You will see here that he may be a "god of war" but his love for A'wu is so gentle, patient, and full of trust. Can't blame A'wu for falling for him in a short time and forgetting his childhood love. There love is slow burn, and it continues to born till the end of 68th eps. Another thing and to be honest in my own opinion. This Chinese historical drama "The Rebel Princess" is so therapeutic compare to the new and some hype historical Cdramas because of their too fancy faces and make ups, you can't even see their real face anymore. This drama showcase the real chinese beauty without using too much. A'wu has the face card and elegance indeed, and Xiao Qi is so manly and speaks authority in every simple words and gestures. THATS HOW YOU ACT! (Thats how a realistic general is, even tho its a drama hehe, he really sweats and inhaled dust here, not tons of foundations and powders). SALUTE to the Directors, producers, production team, cameraman, craftsman, costume makers, and etc. You did a MASTERPIECE. Not rushed, well cooked. Well, a good person is for a good person. Surely gonna miss the feeling of watching this for the very first time. If you want somewhat like these themed Cdrama, watched "Battle of Changsha" good too. These two will Cdramas is really good. Găn jī bù jìn!
