I thought that this movie received a lot of unnecessary backlash prior to its release in fear that a black Ariel would somehow "alter the fabrications of the universe." In contrast, it was an entertaining watch and worth the time. I truly believe the hate was wicked and quite horrifying to think that some grown adults were willing to leave such brutal comments on a public platform in hopes of a cheap laugh.....for something that hadn't even come out yet. Yikes!...and embarrassing for them! I thought Ariel was casted perfectly and hadn't even thought about race during any point of the movie. Halle Bailey perfectly captured the innocence and naivete of Ariel making a quite memorable and likeable character. The music was enjoyable and gave me a new soundtrack to listen to during my free time. I'd recommend watching it!
