The North Carolina Innocence Project finally got around to those already incarcerated. One was a man, who had already served 25 years. Like most innocents in prison, he was poor and had even poorer public defense during his trial. The fact is, when an innocent person in imprisoned, the real criminal goes on to commit crimes, including murder.
Chris Mumma is the hero of this story. She was on the jury that convicted the man she eventually helped to free. While in prison, this poor man gets the worse treatment because he will not admit to the crime. One gets better treatment after so acknowledging a crime.
This is a page turner. Learn how our system of injustice actually works.
I am attending the {In]Justice Film Festival in Chicago, October 3-12, 2019. The film "In Pursuit of Justice" is a story so similar to the one in the book. The North Carolina Innocence Project is a feature of this film as well.
