Every adult in America should be required to watch this wonderful, heart-wrenching series, if not to remind us of the lessons learned from the Hitler era, but rather as a wake up call to what’s happening now with the 2025 presidency. Censorship has been introduced, covering over words our country has fought to protect - respect, freedom, integrity, diversity, fairness, leadership, and cooperativeness. He has pardoned his storm troopers - an army of thugs, who are rearming themselves to terrorize immigrants and people of color, and the LGBTQ, and will soon have control of the military with his stooge Hegseth. It’s only a matter of time before the education of our youth reverses to a bye-gone era of lies and suppression of women, indigenous people, leftists, labor unions, and people of color, and our health system evolves to predate Louis Pasteur or Alexander Fleming. The many characters in this series aptly demonstrated how to salute using a Heil Hitler - looks like EM nailed it after all. Marie-Laure represents a superficial raw blindness in America we all suffer now, underlain by goodness and light, while Werner the hope that still remains in the silent crowds that mill about wondering what tho do about this mess. Reinhold, the vindictive villain who is terminally ill, is our narcissistic leader, who will stop at nothing to find the secret to eternal life. And Captain Mueller is the character representing all that we fear with fascism, militarism, and totalitarianism unleashed on the general population - blind yet righteous rage. When the smoke clears, and the bombing stops, we’ll know that the cryptic messages broadcast on free airwaves offer some semblance of a future for all of us, hoping that the media wakes up and becomes unbiased purveyors of the truth, and not messengers for cosmic balance with violence and retaliatory justice as the means.
