As expected....however I think these pilots just wanted to fly jets and bomb targets...no thought for the lives shattered by their bombs.

I recognise the novelists' skill but as an Irish citizen I reject the dystopia vision...irish people possess an inherent level of contrariness that would defeat any right wing extremist govt. It simply would not happen in ireland..ever. The novel itself is not original as it copies historical narratives from Germany...Chile...Argentina...etc. it is mostly the internal monologue of a woman who refuses to engage with a new reality. I do not think this book is worthy of the booker prize.
