Let me start by saying that if you're looking for a show that will make you question the meaning of life, the complexity of human relationships, or even just basic physics, then The Madame Blanc Mysteries is definitely not the show for you. In fact, I'm not entirely sure what it's for.
The only mystery here is how this show got made in the first place. It's like they threw a bunch of clichés, and some very questionable acting into a blender, hit the puree button, and called it a day. The only thing more mysterious than the crimes is why anyone in the fictional town even bothers solving them.
The characters are so one-dimensional that even cardboard cutouts would be an upgrade. Maybe that's why half the town looks perpetually confused – they're trying to figure out why they're in this show.
And don't even get me started on the music, "1974 called and asked it could have its tunes back!", I half-expected the soundtrack to include a kazoo rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" during the intense moments.
But perhaps the most perplexing aspect is the title itself. The Madame Blanc Mysteries? is less of a question and more of a resigned sigh. As in, "Who on earth decided to produce this train wreck of a show?"
In conclusion, if you enjoy laughing at intentional or unintentional comedy (can't quite work it out? (Oooo look a mystery... ).
If cringe-worthy dialogue, and plot twists that are more predictable than a sunrise, then The Madame Blanc Mysteries might just be your guilty pleasure. As for the rest of us, we'll be searching for the mystery of why we wasted our precious time on this crime against television.
Have fun.
