Having enjoyed several of Elena Ferrante's novels and having seen the adaptations of both My Brilliant Friend and The Story of a New Name I decided to give this a go. It had none of the atmospheric feel of the Neapolitan Quartet series so far. I realise it might be easier for viewers to have 'English' speaking characters and to not have to read subtitles but for me it was sadly lacking. I usually love Olivia Coleman but found this uncomfortable to watch. This is obviously just my opinion but it wouldn't make me want to read the book (I'd thankfully read it some time ago) nor would I recommend it to anyone
