This film is very dark, literally and figuratively. Beautifully filmed with breathtaking and novel scenery that is consistent throughout the film. The allegorical nature of the far away background civil war makes one reflect on the basis of passionate feuds, their futility, scope and scale of horror associated with deep passion felt across time. The sense of loss and futility of everyone losing through pointless passion leaves one reflective of one’s own journey through life. It also highlights that hope does not always spring eternal for all people, but rather some of us must endure the circumstances we cannot escape. Loved it.
