Very good game. Iโve just made it to the monolith and my team is level 47. Skip to the bottom of this review for a quick rundown.
The soundtrack to this game is very good, but sometimes it feels like the wrong music is playing for whatโs going on.
My team is getting destroyed by a monstrous boss? Upbeat techno music.
Sprinting up to and crushing random encounters? Solemn, slow music that also plays in the damp site.
I love the combat, and how it isnโt too punishing regardless of how you play. I feel like I have a very niche crew setup and itโs a blast to stack effects on nevrons and then break them before they get their first turn.
Plenty of opportunities to re-spec your characters as well, so if you WANT to change up your play style, you can. I have enough respec tokens to reset my entire team of 5, 4 times.
The main boss fights are very fun and arenโt difficult at all if you have a good team that works off of each other.
Exploration is amazing. You will find a plethora of good equipment and items all over the game if you take the time to explore around.
I donโt like that I have a team of 5 but can only use three. I have no desire to play as two of the characters if I can only use three, and it seems like a waste of time to have them there, outside of the cutscenes and story-building.
The character interactions and expedition journals you find are essential to learning about the story of the game.
Soundtrack: 5 Stars
Characters: 4.5 Stars (looking at you, Sciel)
Scenery: 4 Stars (Continent looks very gross and unappealing. Individual areas look much better. You also canโt look up past โeye levelโ on the continent to look at far structures or the sky.)
Combat: 4.5 Stars (wind ups can be sloppy, slow, and staggered for no reason other than artificial difficulty)
Leveling and equipment system: 5 Stars
UI: 4 Stars (very easy to lose track of all the buttons and accidentally do the wrong thing)
I like the little parkour obstacles at the beaches.
