The film was entertaining but didn't capture Oscar Wilde's charm. Colin Firth was unconvincing as the manipulative and corrupting Lord Henry. Basil Hallward's character was also under-delveloped. Rebecca Hall as Emily Wotton and Rachel Hurd-Wood as Sybil Vane gave excellent performances, but were unable to save the movie.
