A royal mess. Editing and music ruins a lot of scenes. Many missed opportunities to bring out the issues and decisions involved with the A-bomb effort. Reduces his life to a security clearance meeting. Simulation of the effects on the Japanese might have had much more impact if they’d used real documentary footage instead of “artistic” editing and intercuts with only the movie characters. While professionally acted, all of the above resulted in a long flat movie where none of the characters were memorable and the emotional scenes came off as over done. Use of nudity in some scenes was totally unnecessary and gratuitous and an insult to the actresses having to do scenes with no point to them. If you want to spend a good few hours with Oppenheimer, watch the available documentaries which are quite good.
