It’s a fine adaptation and I am confused about how more people didn’t enjoy it. It may just be that an audience was lured by their familiarity with the movie actors and the movie is truly the production of a play. A classic play. If you don’t hold Strindberg in high regard, it may be difficult to enjoy, but I am baffled by whatever the issue could be, short of this. It is a three actor play and every actor in this was up to the (not insignificant) challenge.

So bad? First of all: do not make your main characters “from Boston” if they are going to wear micro cut off jean shorts in Thailand or Bali, etc. Second, do not make another unwilling human sacrifice vacation movie and pretend we haven’t already seen it. Neither the leads nor the special effects were terrible...this comes down to “why make another horror movie from a formulaic script”? There was so much potential to examine White Privilege, exoticism, and East/West culture and value discrepancy. This movie shot itself in the foot. Painful to watch.
