The best adaptation I have seen. I love the book and while this did not follow it perfectly, the heart and soul of the story were beautify captured. While book to film adaptations can feel almost like a betrayal, this felt fresh and imaginative. The film starts in the middle and then dips forward and back in time. This keeps you on your toes and actually adds nice contrasts that you miss when considering the book in the traditional linear form! Jo was portrayed wonderfully and although I initially had my doubts about an, as always, grown up looking Amy, I was convinced by the end. Meg and beth fans beware, they felt like more minor characters and while Laurie did a good job of pining for Jo, he didnt quite work for me, seeming more like he'd just wandered off the set of a twilight movie. Overall a great film, funny, moving and empowering.
