According to many stories told to me by my Parisian mother and relatives, and having read many books on the Nazi occupation of France, this series is spot on. The horrors, the deprivations, the deportations, the paranoia are accurately portrayed. Yes, this is historical fiction, but it rings true. I especially enjoyed the lighter moments: Marcel hiding out in a cellar and eating foie gras...surprised he didn’t finish it, or take it with him; the play in the forest; Mme Schwartz’s drinking, those goofy hats women wore back then, etc... The acting is good with certain standout performances such as the evil Heinrich Mueller and Dr. Larcher, Beriot, Marcel and Marie and, of course, M. Schwartz. The sub titles are well done, with just a few verb tense grammatical errors, but I enjoy reading them and comparing them to the spoken language. I’m just on Series 4 and am sort of binge watching. Thanks Amazon Prime.
