This was a great movie. Not sure what the critics are talking about and how politics got pulled in at all. Asian American and grew up somewhat poor and I love watching movies about people growing up poor and how it feels from their perspective. Let me tell you, I had it good compared to these folks. Even though we were on food stamps sometimes, we had each other and I had a working mother and father. To me this helps bring the light into poverty in the rust belt. I live in Louisiana and it’s much different. The movie was relatable in many ways from being in the dumps to having someone believe in you and a glimmer of hope. To also having to prove yourself to an outside world which has likely never understood or had to live in similar shoes. Definitely a good watch!
