I started watching this show from the beginning. It was OK, but I didn't like it as much as the original. I almost stopped watching after one episode in which they harped on racism for most of the hour. I decided to keep watching anyway. That is, until the 11/7/21 episode.
I'm talking about the subplot of "Aunt Vi" and "Dee" in the store where the white woman wanted to take the dress away from "Aunt Vi." OK, no problem, there are rude women out there, and this character definitely should have to answer to the police for her actions.
The problem I have is with the scene where "Aunt Vi" is whining about how the cops came to the store and got the white woman's side of the story first. She insinuated it was because of racism against blacks.
How utterly ridiculous!!!!! Of COURSE they would get the white woman's side of the story first because she was standing right inside the door when the cops entered! "Aunt Vi" and "Dee" were several feet away.
Is there racism out there? Of course, and there always will be, unfortunately. But I'm sick of shows creating racism where there is none. Anyone with a brain would totally get why the cops would start with the party who was closer to them when they walked into the store.
I'm done watching. I also had high hopes for NCIS: Hawaii, as I watch NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles. However, THAT show had to be "woke" and put a lesbian scene in the very first episode. (Also, the acting is horrible.)
Newsflash to the writers: Yes, racism exists, but show TRUE racism, but made up stuff. And, for God's sake, stop shoving homosexuality down our throats, especially with the very first episode of a show where the audience doesn't even have a vested interest in the characters yet.
