This movie is the reason why CRT is important in schools. If you’re not black, you probably won’t understand or connect with the theme. The theme which isn’t just “white people are bad” but how these very institutions are built on principles that will be upheld by the future generations. You can’t diversity and inclusion your way out of a culture deeply imbedded throughout society. This is most definitely a psychological thriller/horror movie… for a “certain audience”.
As a black person it’s such a relief to see black movies straying away from your traditional “12 years a slave” whips, chains, and chitlins narrative and representing the “looming presence” (ref movie) of racism in a modern aspect.
