Powerless by Lauren Robert This was my first romantasy book, and I went in with low expectations since my friends didn’t love it but everyone was raving, so I gave it a shot. It started off strong and reminded me of The Hunger Games, but the pacing was so uneven. The first trial dragged on, then the others felt super rushed, and honestly, they added nothing to the story A WASTE OF MY TIME. Most of the big twists came right at the end, which made it feel messy and rushed overall. Paedyn finding out about the Resistance didn’t feel genuine, she just accepted it with no real thought. Plus, we only got like two chapters of it?? She was kinda a mess and a bit of a pick-me, and that final ball outfit was not giving litch so digusting and a SLAG Kai was charming and attractive (I still like him tbh), but he had some cringe moments. Their chemistry though? Top-tier. Kitt was doing too much and felt bad for him at times, but he literally idolizes his dad even after seeing how toxic he is, which made no sense. I know adena has her own pov, but in this one, she felt pretty useless and i felt almost nothing when she died but i am going to be reading powerful . The writing was beautiful though, so that made up for that. Overall, I did enjoy it , Paedyn and Kai’s chemistry was hot but I wish there was more of the worldly things if u get what i mean. Solid 6.5/10.

Honestly this was my first Holly Jackson book so i had hight expectation as most of my friends raved abt her and to be fair i was loving it too but the pace was definitely very slow in the beginning and middle.In the last 10 chapters was when the plot twist was plot twisting but the aftermath of the incident couldve been handled better and Carter feelings abt finding out her parents wasn't actually her parents felt unnatural since they have been taking care of her for her whole life and i think she shouldve been more sad abt jeff's death, maybe a bit of trauma since she witnessed it right before her eyes😀. Most of the Price family leaving to go Canada was kinda funny but was DIFININTLY suspicious like im sure the people seeing the document would have questions. Overall it was a good read but felt very unnatural towards the end and more of Bel and Ash would've been so cute
