Poorly written, with awful character development or relatability. Here are some reasons.
-Where Lord of the Rings has complicated and intricate relationships that always change. The relationships in this show are predictable and unchanging.
-where every major character in lord of the rings exhibits massive change throughout the films. Rings of power characters are unchanging. They don’t improve, they don’t make mistakes, they are not relatable.
-where every battle was carefully and tactfully planned by both sides exhibiting moments of brotherhood, heroism, deceit, and character growth in lord of the rings. Every strategical decision in the rings of power does not make sense. Scriptwriters are trying to keep you on your toes but instead you make the characters appear to make idiotic decisions.
-where lord of the rings gave us amazing characters with moments of heroism and talent balanced with mistakes and imperfections that made them relatable. Rings of power takes these characters and destroy them, making them look apathetic, deceitful, and proud. Or in Gandalfs case, simply clueless.
What’s most frustrating is that Tolkien wrote and published backgrounds and
stories for these characters and where they came from. Those books are beautifully crafted. But Amazon ignored it and wrote their own so they could inject it with their values.
I won’t continue but I don’t have hours to tell you every reason it is awful. Just stick with the good movies and ignore this series entirely. I will also add that it is interesting that several thousand 1 star reviews are suddenly missing… including mine. I wonder where they went.. 🤔
