Started reading it to my 7 year old and it traumatised him (and that was even me not actually reading the description of the main character Alfie having his teeth pulled out by the evil Miss Root!) Very dark “humour” that also mocks the accent of the social worker, which I found uncomfortable to read. Going straight to the charity shop.
