I went In hoping for the best. I have read American Prometheus, and I love Nolan films. Boy did he fail here .
It's basically a series of competing vignettes trying to weave together three different timelines and narratives. God help you if you haven't done the heavy lifting of reading the book the movie was based on or even watching a documentary or the movie Fat Man and Little Boy; you will be hopelessly lost.
It's a beautifully shot film. The acting is good, but when a part gets interesting, boom, stars, fireworks as fission, on to another timeline. Oppies sidepiece is treated as a tasty tryst ending in her suicide. Kitty his wife is combative drunk.
Of course all the 5 star, simp reviews are by those who think if they are in the same room as someone or something considered artsy, they themselves must be artsy, too.
So save your $$. Watch a good documentary or the Fat Man, Little Boy movie. Or read the book American Prometheus.
