This should be essential viewing. A cow called Luma was bullied, abused, plugged into machines, pumped with drugs, violated and raped multiple times. She had 7 babies stolen from her which left her further traumatised. This creature was not seen as an individual but as a commodity. Her intelligence was evident by her reactions to her surroundings. Every bellow was a communication left unacknowledged but her eyes spoke volumes. It was heartbreaking to observe her emotional turmoil each time another calf was removed. Yet the filming was sensitively done and the night-time /outdoors footage was a reprieve for both the cows and the viewers. I kept hoping Luma and her white calf would find each other but this was not Disneyland. As time wore on, the conclusion was inevitable and I found myself holding my breath, just knowing already what lay ahead as an earlier frame had indicated.....
