I’m not sure if it was all the hyped up advertising or the highly anticipated return of a beloved Stephen King classic, but my expectations fell short with this one.
The entire movie felt rushed and the character building was missed on so many levels.
There were some cool build up scenes but nearly all of them ended with a sudden jump scare.
The child actor that played Mark did a good job but other actors I felt have less than a mediocre performance.
The main vampire Barlow gave Nosferatu vibes and was overshadowed on his few appearances by junky special effects. His death scene was so sudden, I kept waiting for him to get back up because I just couldn’t accept that THAT was what they used for their climax scene…
Final thoughts, could have been worse, but should have been so much better! There’s some visually cool scenes (like the vampires stalking from the rooftops and the always loved window scene) but overall very underwhelming.
