I cant say enough bad things about this movie. It doesn’t even bring awareness or perspective to school shootings…which you would think would be the main goal of a movie advertised the way it was. There is no climax to the movie. It ends with a million unanswered questions. Why they didn’t focus on the kids in the classroom, or quinton, or Nick is beyond me because their stories would have been worthy of watching. The main character hides in a bathroom stall and then goes on to have sex with one person in the stall and then kiss another. It shows no growth. The entire movie is mundane and follows now real life trajectory of a person who would go through this, perhaps this can be attributed to the director and writer being Canadian. Everything is “low key” and the dialogue is so out of touch with how teenagers actually talk. Mia is a 16 year old whose dads live in Japan and seemingly never check in on her, while she lives alone and survives on red wine, doordash, and weed. Vada does ecstasy in school and weed in a pool for half the movie. The other half she spends sitting uncomfortably in chairs and says few substantial words.
