I had to stop watching when Carrie acted victimized by a tired neighbor asking her to take off her heels. To think of taking off your heels as losing your rights when your neighbor is sleep-deprived - the first world problems in the show are absolutely nauseating, especially given the world in which we live. This show is monumentally out of touch and instead of developing these characters to show female archs of wisdom and maturity over the seasons, Carrie's self-important narcissism and insecurity have reached new heights. Playing 'games' with you partner in your 60s? How incredibly disappointing and embarrassing. Evolve. It's like they have all regressed and appear as pompous materialistic wealthy elitists (which they always were but it was fun in their 30s and it's sad they never outgrew it to achieve any sort of deeper meaning or purpose). Great, you all worked to excel in your careers! Woo hoo to female success and empowerment! And what you did with it was ....buy more clothes and book another reservation.....Carrie reads the NY Times and all she seems to think about is dissociating into a period piece and advocating for a woman's right to wear heels... Does she feel anything in response to the pages she reads about genocide? The loss of womens' rights? Could we see an argument between them about something substantive? Could Carrie go to therapy to explore why she is so deeply insecure? It's devolved into Kardashian level trash, which promotes unrealistic and unachievable lifestyles for most of the viewers while also having its characters continuously sidestep any sense of community or kindness (Harry....the banana. Are you serious dude.) I'm ready for it to die because what it has morphed to is such a sad and accurate representation of what is wrong with our self-obsessed, self-important, consumerist, isolationist culture. Can someone make a show about a group of women who do better?
