Roman Empire is an amazing documentary series that dives deep into the rise and fall of 3 of the most influential leaders in Roman history. I have always had a slight obsession with the history of Rome, and this series is filled with entertainment and accurate information that helps viewers better understand not only who they were, but why they became who they were.
I found the season on caligula the most interesting. Any history buff knows he was absolutely insane, but this show explains in detail the psychological torment he suffered before taking power.
It does miss a few key details, especially about Julius Caesar, but anyone who expects a mini series to hit every little piece in a 45 minute show is a little ridiculous. Yes i'm referring to some of the other commenters here. But I've noticed from some of the negative reviews here that the commenters are your typical "i use an unnecessary large vocabulary so i am very smart and anything educational is beneath me because i am very smart. See how smart i am?"
If you are considering watching the show, watch the first episode and decide for yourself. I was hooked after just 1. Just be warned, it's ancient Rome so clearly there is graphic violence, but also nudity. Not for children or young teens.
