This movie is GREAT!
Now your probably wondering why I left a one star? It’s so all of the crying Karen’s in the review section can see it LOL
First of all, I see complaints about Mei disobeying her parents. But hmmm… I also wonder which DISNEY characters have also done that! Ariel….? Riley from inside out….? Mulan going against her father but still decides to literally sneak out, pose as a boy to join the war???? even NEMO who disobeys his dad to go out into the ocean!!! It’s normal teen/kid behavior! And if you don’t think so, you’re probably a helicopter parent that the child can’t stand.
Second of all, I’m seeing soooo many lame comments about “disgusting” puberty. Excuse me miss Karen, ITS NORMAL HAVING A PERIOD. It shouldn’t be shamed at all! It’s the way of life and becoming a woman. Pregnancy isn’t hid, so why are periods? Some girls even start their period early at 9 years old! If you can’t accept a small moment in the movie where mei mei’s mom is nurturing her about a normal thing, then that’s just plain sad. Shame on you.
Aaand the comment of “but I cant relate to it” this movie was not about a period the whole time. It had moments of generational family issues, helicopter parenting, dealing with changes growing up, coming of age. Everyone goes through weird phases and has raging hormones growing up. Some people just cannot relate to it at all and that’s fine. But you can always try having an open mind instead of being a sad sack of you know what.
As well as the comments crying about how cringey it was. Well news flash! It’s supposed to be cringey! These are 13 year old girls. They loveee fanfiction and other nerdy stuff. It was supposed to make you feel uncomfortable and have second hand embarrassment. Teen girls! It’s how a lot of them act unless they were sheltered while growing up! They can’t control their hormones it’s just puberty. And let me tell you, teen boys are into some weird things too.
And last of all, the karens and boomers complaining about how it’s more mature. There were so many trailers that gave hints on how this movie was going to be. You could of even read the reviews first, it’s your fault if you and your baby were offended at this movie targeted towards pre teens and above. I have a 7 year old boy cousin who loved it. If you get offended by a lot of things then you won’t love it. And I’m sure if you have a little a child that has the attention span of a squirrel when watching movies, they will forget every last bit of it. It’s kind of your fault if you took your child to this movie thinking it’s going to be like minions or sing. It’s a coming of age movie. It’s obvious. Pixar did something different and I feel like we needed it. It’s okay to have a little humor in movies directed towards teens. It’s not coco melon for sake.
This was such a beautiful coming of age movie. I feel like all the bad reviews are just offended Karen’s and boomers and fragile men who are race ist , sexist, and get offended by something that isn’t in their zone. And that’s very sad. Having an open mind seems more reasonable. But no continue to be the offended adults who act less mature than the teens in this movie. And don’t worry about my rating, I gave it 5 stars on all of my other accounts! This movie was amazing!
