I read Dr. Esselstyn's book ("Reverse and Prevent Heart Disease") some ten years ago - after seeing a CNN show by Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Dr. Esselstyn's approach - and adopted his plan right after reading the book. And then attended an immersion weekend at his Hudson Valley Family Farm that same year. Have been with the plan ever since. Am now 76 years old. Never felt better. My annual physicals are always good (esp. the lab blood work numbers - the doctor is always flabbergasted how good the numbers are [ but, like most doctors, not flabbergasted enough to inquire why they're so good] ). Lost 20 lbs in the 1st few months, although that wasn't my motivation; have kept them off. Took me only about 3 weeks to get the hang of it (cooking, reading labels carefully, etc). My wife is not on the plan .. so we continue to cook our own meals separately ,,, although there is plenty of 'common ground' (i.e. she likes many of the vegan recipes I make, and I'll eat anything she makes as long as it has no meat, dairy, fish.
