Having watched this movie as a youngster in the 80s and early 90s I have to admit it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered when revisited. This movie hasn't aged well at all. Over the top cheesy acting by everyone, bad dialog and very dated special effects, even for the early 80s. It still has an entertainment factor for a fairly short movie and a raw look that probably inspired other movies. Hard to understand the number of 5 star reviews here beyond nostalgia. The nostalgia factor and stylistic choices John Carpenter made are the only reasons it gets 3 stars from me. If you want a way better John Carpenter flick go watch The Thing or the original Halloween.

Only redeeming things about this movie are the visuals and a couple of songs. Incoherent story and terrible dialog doom this sequel. It feels as if it was created by 7 year olds. Little ones may be captivated by the visuals and characters but for the rest of us this is unwatchable. Another example of Disney losing its magic.

Gorgeous cinematography, excellent acting, a compelling storyline, poetic dialog, action and romance. An epic western mixed with romance and intrigue. What's not to love? A masterpiece.
