When I started the show, I didn't know what to expect and kind of thought it would be an awkward coming-of-age type story. However, my assumptions quickly disappeared as Wille heard Simon's voice fill the church. Immediately after the first episode, I knew this would become one of my favorite TV shows just by the story and love that started to brew between Wilhelm and Simon. Although it's a short show, each episode holds enough power to make the plot more interesting, not to mention the fact that all the main characters have fully-developed personalities along with their own desires. It includes multiple languages, a gorgeous cast, and illustrate a different perspective to discovering one's sexuality. Throughout the show, there seems to be a repeated theme of differing social classes with the lives that Simon and Wille had. One didn't include fancy clothes or proper silverware while the other has everything imaginable. I really enjoyed how Felice and Sara's friendship changed from being just acquaintances to best friends that are honest and will help each other no matter what. Whoever designed August's character created a person that I feel is deserving of any annoyance or pain. Basically, every action he made had me frustrated with him more. I haven't even talked about the diversity and normalization of different skin textures that Young Royals does a wonderful job presenting. Overall, this show has become my comfort show and one that I will come back to at any second I feel sad about my life or need something exciting.
