I have been a horror fan for a while and used to read books often when I was younger and this was the first horror book I have ever read. I am usually not a fan of paranormal horror (in movies) because they are often cheesy, but this book was absolutely great.
There were scenes that made me re-read the sentence (doing a double-take) because I was simply surprised by some of the horrific scenes. You really get invested in the story and feel for the characters so much so quickly.
This story has such imaginative horrors without getting terribly graphic like many shock-and-awe creators go for that simply curdle your insides. I think this was the best horror read to get started on and I will definitely be buying more works by the author. <3
P.S. Also I simply LOVE the cover art. So simple with an oil painting quality that was so intriguing to me
