*Spoilers*
I found this movie to be horribly written. In part because of the bad execution of the rules laid out by the monkey’s paw completely discarded later in the film. It did not try to relate to historical events, although in the first movie they tied in directly into ww2, barely looking into the Cold War era. It would have made for a better movie if the rules and ramifications of the monkey’s paw were clearer, as the movie revolves around this object. It also became unclear at the end exactly the motive of the oil tycoon, who somehow took over from the American president? The message was overused, ‘be careful what you wish for’ and the like. It didn’t develop the characters well enough, Diana’s only growth being one of healing and acceptance. They also did not display how the death of Steve affected her, to the extent that was suggested later in the film. Also, there was the question of how Diana was able to make the jet invisible in her weakened state, when originally she could only make the coffee cup invisible. They wasted the beginning of the film with irrelevant information, when they could have been explaining the origins of the stone.
It was a complete disappointment.
