The book is a 20 year complaint about how the author couldn't do his job and in the end admits he doesn't know what happened or why. He gossips at the expense of people's reputations including the victims. He condemns Vincent Bugliosi yet is happy to ride his coattails.

The film is good, both for plot and character development. Very thoughtful. Intense on occasion. Not sure exactly where the movie takes place. Seoul?. The subtitles are difficult at times due to white print going against a white or light color background.
