Molly Aldridge

A disappointment, overall. I am not a fan of exposes, and this was no exception. The exploitive elements in this production were dismal, not to mention a misrepresentation of the facts. Unfortunately, Jason Isaacs’ portrayal -- which at moments came off as imitation -- often and sadly missed the mark. (Jason Isaacs is better than this.) Whether it is Archie or Cary, it makes no difference. On screen or off, Cary Grant had this certain “something” that is hard to define, let alone mimic with any real depth of persuasion. It would take a lot of courage for any actor to step into those shoes. Isaacs’ heavy makeup in certain scenes certainly did not help. The narrative/storyline was also wanting.
