His Story: The Musical is a lyrical movement that will sweep this generation.
I first heard creator, Anna Miriam Brown, share her story from the Whoa! That's Good Podcast in February, 2023. Suffice to say, the interview struck me deeply.
I, who had never listened to a musical of my own volition besides Hamilton, was immediately intrigued by the story of God's divine intervention in Anna's life. Not because of her Holy Spirit inspired composition, although that was apparent, but because of Anna's testimony about how the Lord has helped her through Dyslexia, and ochestrated her steps so intentionally for years as she stepped into her calling. This part of her story struck me the most intimately because I could not read until my early teen years, and only then, because the Lord gave me the ability to do so!
I immediately began to listen to the soundtract and cried many times as I soaked in the meaningful message.
Anna's story - His Story! - gives such a light to a generation that presides primarily in darkness.
Through a work of the Lord, a friend and I BOTH won FREE tickets to the musical showings around Memorial Day weekend. Despite us living in Jackson, MS, and being notified of our winning Thursday, May 25th, I hurriedly prepared with much excitement as I had been telling everyone I knew about this musical since February and praying for months that the Lord would make a way - THIS seemed to be his clear answer & timing. Two friends and I packed up my car and headed out for the 7 hour drive from Jackson, MS to Dallas, TX.
We saw the musical Sunday evening. We cried intermittently throughout. We even got to meet the SWEETEST members of the Brown family, including writer Anna, and her sister Rachel (who had assisted Anna in different writing elements), and their father, Josh. They very kindly took time with us to hear our story and loved on us SO graciously! I am still in awe of how good God is to have brought us there, and how wonderfully God's gentleness and character was reflected through this family onto three young girls, traveling by the seat of their pants and God's holy provision.
My friend, Natajsa Bechtold, is a self-proclaimed critic and mega musical enthusiast, who was NOT super excited to see the show (she says she only went to support me in my excitement); and YET, she turned to me at the end of the last musical number and said "I'm speechless. I have never been speechless. (As her best friend, I can confirm, she hasn't). I think this is the best musical I have ever experienced. I want to watch it again."
So anyways, we're trying to plan another 14 hr round trip drive to see this musical, and you should too!
