I've read people say this is predictable...well it didn't go where I thought it would so for me at least I didn't see how it would end. Yes..it is another movie with teenagers but at least these seem to be more realistic than the plastic one Hollywood likes to put out. Cinematography is great. Really enjoyed this one.

I kind of agree with a few other reviewers that this wanted to be The End of the F***ing World but doesn't even come close. What might have helped if they had gotten a more likable main character. I wanted to like her but just couldn't. The season also kind of just ends out of nowhere. It doesn't even feel like a cliffhanger. The best part about it is the short episodes. Made it easier to stomach. If they had been any longer I would not have been able to finish the season.

The series that goes nowhere. There a lot of good things about the show...good character development, good relationship development, good writing, directing, and acting. It is also an excellent idea for a series (yes,I understand it is developed from graphic novels...no I haven't read them). However as my first sentence said...it goes nowhere. With the exception of finding out about the keys and what they can do the series ends the same way it began....with the very same villain still plotting to steal the keys. Saying it again...it went nowhere. Not surprising when you consider Carlton Cuse is involved...Lost went nowhere either...still know nothing about that island. A couple of other things that stick out that were bothersome....the characters of Duncan and Chamberlain Locke were completely useless. Chamberlain could probably have provided a ton of information for the kids but he was never re-visited. Duncan was completely underutilized. He was the least used, least necessary, and least developed of all the characters. And I happen to like the actor. I can only hope that the introduction of them in season 1 will bare some fruit in season 2 and both of these characters will come more to the forefront. The second thing...you could see the reveal with Gabe coming from a mile away. The second he started being excited for what Kinsey was doing with the keys and encouraging her I knew something was up. Not much of a surprise twist if you're paying attention. And lastly, in going nowhere...that final episode was boring...nothing really happened in it that was climatic in any way. Yes, some things took place (Ellie...Gabe) but most of it was just scene after scene of talking. I expected more after the part with the showdown with Dodge but if fell off quickly. Anyway, I'm giving this 4 stars because it does have a lot of quality to it. Hopefully, if they get a season 2 they can pull it together and make the plot a little more present and stick the landing rather than just meander along.

Sigh...updating this review after the midseason finale of Season 2. The first Season was great...I loved it. The second season has seen a big shift one that I'm not liking. I love humor in my shows but even I know when too much is too much. The Christmas episode was horrible. The show is now trying to be too much like Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Buffy had humor...it was a sophisticated type...nothing silly or slapstick. But it also had a slow burn with unfolding plots and relationship developments and its character development was top notch. Legacies has none of these things. Case in point...the dreaded Christmas episode. It delves into just plain silliness...a ridiculous fan service episode that should never have been made. It's only saving grace is the acting of Danielle Rose Russell and Nick Fink...the only two actors on the show that have the acting chops to have been able to hold their own on The Originals in my opinion. And unfortunately by nights end Nick Fink's character has been killed off. Hopefully the actor will find an acting job that better utilizes his talent. The pacing was horrible...Bad editing gone wrong. The episode jumped from scene to scene without bothering to develop the story. For example in one scene we have Fink's character Clarke trying to convince Russell's Hope that he is on her side. The next time we see them together it's through a phone call. The explanation of what happened (that she put him under a truth spell) is told rather than experienced. Why the rush? The story felt like it was written by a bad and impatient fanfiction writer. Again the acting of the leads in these scenes make them the only successful scenes in the episode and actually left me wanting for more interaction between the two. Alas, unless some miracle occurs and Plec decides to bring Ryan Clarke back from the dead that is not looking hopeful. The rest of the episode was a disaster. The fight between Santa Claus and Krampus was utterly ridiculous. Could anyone imagine such a scene playing out on either Vampire Diaries or heaven forbid The Originals. They also seem to be using characters to just move the plot along and then dropping them...Clarke being the latest but not the only one. The Sheriff and her children were brought in while Alaric and Hope were at the High School but once they returned to the Salvatore School these new characters were dropped. Another problem was the sudden sexual exploits between Lizzie and Sebastian. Why so fast? The slow burn that was developing between them at the first of the season had been one of the highlights of the season. Then all of a sudden they are together in a not so romantic encounter that didn't even measure up to mediocre. Does anyone remember how long it took for Delena to happen...that was a slow burn and it was worth the wait. Not so for this couple. This season is off the rails and not in a good way. To see it de-evolve into this silliness is disheartening.
