This is a movie where there is a cliche hip hop character who constantly says “damn.” There’s a actuary who is constantly talking about the “mathematical certainty” of various types of death and how improbable the various deaths are. There’s also conveniently a: doctor, nurse, an archeologist who can calculate the age of bones, and so on and so forth. M. Night makes a cameo, but maybe he should have stayed off camera so people could forget he was associated. I recently watched “Escape Room” and that movie is a cinematic masterpiece comparatively. On the plus side the cinematography and sound was well done.

Powerful movie. The animation is well done and really works to tell the story. I also enjoyed the live action shots from the 80s and 90s in Afghanistan and Russia which really adds authenticity. Amin is an individual that is soft spoken and intelligent and the way he relays it makes it easy to empathize. Another aspect is that he’s thinking about buying a home with his partner and that aspect, which is set in the present time, overlays with his amazing and harrowing escape from the aforementioned countries, along with coming to terms with his homosexuality during that same period. Master course in story telling and it’s goes without saying it’s a scary and sad story, but with an uplifting and positive ending.

Horrible. Music choices are bizarre. Acting is stilted. Takes a extremely interesting con story and bloats and drags it down into soap land. Chlumsky mugging and chewing scenery like Al Pacino in a stage play and she has zero chemistry with the husband character. Garner has an accent that possibly is accurate but is distracting. Now I know why Rhimes stuff hasn’t interested me before. Doing this from the perspective of the journalist was a bad idea. Should have opened with Anna fleecing some rube in a luxury hotel. Sorry to go food critic scorched earth but it’s disappointing. Shots look pretty in a soap opera way.
