I was read The Weirdstone of Brisingamen as a child & fell in love with the story. Now as an adult I still have the book plus the subsequent follow up story The Moon of Gomrath. Alan Garner's style of story telling has you spellbound from start to finish..I suppose it would be interesting if it had ever be transferred from book to film..its characters finely woven into the backdrop of rural Cheshire but transported into a world of Magic & wonder but also it's darker side which battle for supremacy & to save the present from it's past.
If you were to give a comparison it follows a similar theme to that of Lord of The Rings..but instead of a ring being the focus its a bracelet & the stone at it's heart..a stone that holds power & the beginning of a great adventure & a race against time to deliver it to The Wizard who can restore peace to both the past & the present..
