The movie is definitely for an American audience or someone who is outside of Europe. Living in the times of Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine wars, people become desensitized to violence and deaths, unfortunately. So when a viewer with such experience watches this movie, a simple glimpse of a chimney and a wall does not do the similar effect compared to a person who is ignorant or far away from the wars.
Moreover, in the times of political conflicts, I do not understand why does the director want us to relate ourselves to nazis, making them “just the same as we are”. This message does not inspire people to make a change, to protest the government and speak out. It makes you frustrated, because why try if we are just simple people like nazis were, living our regular lives and obeying our respective leaders.
