The HBOMax adaptation of The Last of Us is now the gold standard for what a video game adaptation should be. The producers knew what to keep (the base story and characters, the music, the visuals) but also knew where it made sense to deviate (such as the Frank and Bill story). It feels familiar yet new in the best possible ways.
In fact, the series is so good, it's the first time in years that I've followed along in real time -- the last time being Band of Brothers. If you enjoyed the game you'll most likely love this adaptation. Even if you've never experienced the game, you'll no doubt still enjoy it.
