Sooooo...
The acting is better than the original film. They introduce plot points that just don’t go anywhere. I understand why they went in a different direction in regards to the children than what happens in the book but the ending just falls flat for me. There’s something creepy and almost pitiable of the books ending where Louis just won’t learn his lesson - the ending of the film (while it is a twist I didn’t see coming) just sort of “ends” the film. I didnt feel any lingering dread or any sort of emotion post film, just “Well, that was that.”
I’d say overall it’s worth a watch but I wouldn’t expect too much, definitely overhyped with all the trailers, little pay off in the end.
