Yes, the book was slow paced, I think the author author was matching the pace of life at the time, people were atuned to the seasons, the migration of animals the movement of the sun. Life did not move with the speed of the 21st century. The story takes place over many years, children grow up, elders die. Once you realize this is what the author i think is trying to convay, you will be in the mindset to enjoy this epic novel.
